You must be aware that the co-owner of Haldirams Foods India Ltd., Prabhu Shankar Agarwal has been convicted for giving "supari" to a local don to murder a tea shop owner, Swaminarayan who refused to vacate his 9 sq ft tea shop located outside the Haldiram's outlet located in Burrabazar, Kolkata. This is confirmed news and the convicted is under arrest, having confessed to the crime. The attempt to murder happened in 2005 but Agarwal has been arrested only recently (in 2010).
I feel its an insult to freedom and democracy that even after 60 years of Independence, the poor are living off the mercy of the rich. And as the system works in India, after a few years, a key witness will turn "hostile" and the case will be hushed up.
I feel that the Indian Corporate Sector can be taught a lesson if a severe smear campaign can be launched against Haldiram and all of us boycot all haldiram products for life as a mark of protest. Together, we can make a difference. It is a time of change in India. All this old-school gunda-ism and injustice has to end. We have to make a start.. Lets get the ball rolling against haldiram and in favour of justice.
